The Amite Police Department received a telephone call Monday from the Houston Police Department stating that they had a warrant for murder for Belton and he was believed to have returned home to Amite after the murder of a Houston woman on Easter Sunday.

Belton was arrested by APD on West Palmetto Street and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and charged with being a fugitive from another jurisdiction. Two detectives from Houston arrived Tuesday and interviewed Belton and then spoke with Trabona.
